Food Basics

Hi,

I would make my complaint regarding the staff of Food Basics irrational and unruly attitude of Food Basic staff.

I have been shopping from the same location for about 15 years from 45 Overlea Blvd. Toronto.

I bought a few food items separately and paid the bill and after that transaction, I bought two more items separately on December 17, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. One of the food basic employees was assigned to keep an eye on customers at the self-check-out area. He must have been advised by another associate, she was standing on the other side of the cash counter.

The same male associate was watching me doing the scanning I scanned the first few items first and paid the bill by Debit Card and I did the same thing for two more Items that I wanted to buy for someone else. I paid the bill twice.

The male member was watching me during that time. When I was done and about to leave he asked me did I pay for those items though there were some more customers were done. He didnt ask them.

The act of singling out the people who belong to visible minorities is quite disrespectful. He watched me doing it and heard the recording of the machine for payment despite the fact he asked me as if I was stealing the stuff.

I was going to ask the (he must be new in food basics) one associate jumped between the conversation as if she was trained to argue with customers.

Whenever a customer wants help from the food basic staff they are nowhere to be found and the staff who does morning shifts always talk to the customer in a high tone of voice. Stop doing racial profiling while dealing with customers.

I have also found most of the time the food items with an expired date on the shelf bread and garlic bread.

Upon telling the staff the said they associate must have forgotten to remove the item.

On my next visit if I notice the stock with an expired date I make a video and post it on various social media for public awareness and in that way these things would not be repeated in the future.

We have other stores newly opened close by from where we can purchase better food items at low prices. These kinds of non-professional behavior discourage customers from buying from this location.

My wife was waiting for over 15mins then the manager comes over opens a till and takes customers with groceries instead of dealing with lottery. So my wife asked what's goin on and he began to belittle and embarrass my wife telling her that lottery was not a priority.

Which led to an argument where he was trying to bring customers into it,which backfired bc customers didn't agree with how he belittled and embarrassed my wife. How you have people like this running your store is beyond me. If your employees don't want to deal with lottery customers THEN DONT SELL LOTTERY!

To speak to reg customers like this after just spending 100$ is totally uncalled for and if this disrespectful employee ,especially to a 58yr old woman is not dealt with it doesnt say much about you as a company! Just terrible!

Disturbing Allegations of RACISM IN ROCKLAND grocery store

Locals are saying that there was a Racist attacks in Rockland coming from a source at local community`s that these owner`s of these thai,chinese,oriental descent restaurants or someone who works in that industry was throwing slures of RACISM attacks at a local business man shopping at a local grocery store victim of a sluring attacks.. you`re a piece of *** if your not happy go back to your country? the racist man yells.

A bunch of local people shopping for their grocery`s witnessed an incident that happend 3 days ago at a local grocery store yelling out RACIST SLURES yelling your a (piece of *** to a local man and throwing his grocerie products hitting the man several times who had no idea why? the racist man told him to go back to your country the man laughed it off maybe he`s thinking he was jewish or Israel or even a Canadian? due to the war going on saying to the racist man this is my country "our" country respect us all canadians and walk away while the racist man kept throwing items at him then the asian,thai,chinese took off his shirt trying to intimidate people around taking a fit swearing in is language causing a disturbance in the store then ran out after the man but was nowhere to be found, pointing at the sky yelling obsernity in is language, WE though he had a weapond so we hide on the side wondering and looking at the man being victimized traumatized by this crazy oriental man. what the *** (sick)

WARNING : these new mentaly hill war minded country`s of immigrants have no respect for our country, they are abusing our system`s rights to live in peace & freedom LEAVE US ALONE.

If you think the people of Rockland are all racist your wrong,there is alot of good working class of necomers in Rockland noone is refused .. but it takes just one bad apple to start the HATRED break apart our freedom cause their lives are in distruction.

Move away or eh! just go back where you came from and leave us alone. SIMPLE!.

It was the 1st time I had been in this particular Food Basic in a very long time.

Almost, from the very minute I walked into the store, 1 of the 2 East Indian security guards they got working in there, started following me around the store. I hadn't noticed at first bc I was going about my business, but kept seeing him out of my peripheral vision.

Everywhere I was, he was. Right up until I went thru the cashier. He obviously saw me check thru, took everything outta my cart, put it up on the belt, pay for it, and still felt the need to stop me at the exit doors and asked if he could see my receipt.. I said, "REALLY!??" You *** *** REALLY?!

I am finished shopping at this welfare store! I wasn't in there to shoplift, I was in there to pick up a few items and leave. I will say this, if I EVER see a Canadian in a grocery store or Walmart stealing.. I WILL TURN A BLIND EYE TO IT!

And why??

B/c our government *** us!! That's WHY!
